Ibra staying at Milan, says agent

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not considering the possibility of leaving AC Milan, the Swede s agent has declared.

The Sweden international has been linked recently to Real Madrid, but his representative has given little credence to the rumours and insisted the striker is not thinking about a new challenge.

There is nothing true about that, Mino Raiola told Panorama. The situation is clear, he still has two more years left on his contract.

Milan do not want to sell Zlatan and he does not want to leave. Everything else is just theories, dreams and baseless possibilities.

However, Raiola then stated that if his client wants a new challenge, he will not be deterred by the fact he is still bound by a contract.

At Inter he still had two-and-a-half years r…

No European qualification a ´football disaster´ for Hiddink

Guus Hiddink has described Chelsea s failure to secure European Football next season as a football disaster .

After cantering to the Premier League title in 2014-15, a tumultuous season that included the sacking of Jose Mourinho nears its conclusion with Chelsea unable to achieve even a spot in the Europa League.

Departing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini claimed it would be  disastrous if his side failed to earn a top-four spot and a place in the Champions League.

And Chelsea s interim boss Hiddink acknowledged that, in footballing terms, a failure to play in Europe is a huge underachievement for a club of Chelsea s size.

When I talk about big words like disaster , there are bigger things in the world, but in the football world you migh…

Newcastle pulls off club-, MLS-record deal for Atlanta United´s Miguel Almiron

Newcastle United has completed a club-record deadline-day move for midfielder Miguel Almiron from MLS side Atlanta United.

The on-off move had been on hold since December, when Almiron led Atlanta to the MLS Cup, and was finalized Thursday as Newcastle splashed out a reported £20.5million (approx. $26.9 million) on the Paraguay international.

The deal sees the Premier League s longest standing club-record broken, with the Magpies belatedly agreeing a deal to surpass their £16.5m (approx. $21.6 million) signing of Michael Owen in 2005.

Almiron was nominated for the MVP award in MLS in 2018, having quickly established himself as one of the league s standout stars after arriving at the expansion side the previous season.

The 24-year-old scored 21 goals in …

Netherlands not expecting to ´romp´ to victory over Turkiye

Ronald Koeman warned against any complacency ahead of the Netherlands Euro 2024 clash with Turkiye.

The Dutch are seen as big favourites heading into Saturday s quarter-final.

Indeed, Opta s supercomputer has handed the Oranje a 58.4% chance of progressing to the last four, and a tie against either England or Switzerland.

Koeman, though, shrugged off the suggestion that his team will be able to romp to victory, despite the Netherlands beating Romania 3-0 last time out, with Turkiye having overcome Austria 2-1 in the last 16.

This is a different opponent with different qualities, Koeman said.

They have played with four at the back, but also with five. Just like the Romanians, they showed a lot of heart in how they play. But we are more worried ab…

Bayern Munich 0 Borussia Monchengladbach 3: Under-pressure Kovac now four without a win

Bayern Munich s winless run has stretched to four games after Borussia Monchengladbach shocked the Bundesliga champions with a 3-0 win at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

After winning his first seven matches in charge of the club, coach Niko Kovac has now failed to guide his side to victory in three domestic games on the spin – a run that leaves them four points behind early leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Kovac s men looked sluggish from the outset and found themselves two down after just 16 minutes, Alassane Plea and Lars Stindl – making his first appearance of the season – finishing emphatically past Manuel Neuer.

Robert Lewandowski had a goal ruled out for offside in the second period, but any dramatic comeback from Bayern would have been harsh on the visi…

Roma to ´discuss´ error after too many substitutions in comical Coppa Italia exit

Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca said the club will discuss the error made in the Coppa Italia upset against Spezia after the club used six substitutes.

Spezia shocked Roma 4-2 after extra time in the Italian capital, where Fonseca s side capitulated and sensationally made one substitution too many in the last 16 on Tuesday.

Roma would have been eliminated by default even if they won at home to Spezia after Fonseca introduced Ibanez for Pedro in extra time, having already made five changes to his line-up.

Fonseca s Roma believed they could use six substitutes – an additional change in extra time as seen in cup competitions – but that was not the case in the Coppa Italia.

Asked about the mistake at Stadio Olimpico, under-fire boss Fonseca – who oversaw …
